Correct answer: To serve as a central location for accountability and communication.
A muster point is a designated safe area where all personnel gather after an evacuation. Its main function is to allow for an accurate headcount to ensure everyone has evacuated safely and to provide a central point for sharing instructions and information.
Question 2: A worker discovers a colleague who is unconscious and not breathing. After ensuring the scene is safe, what is the IMMEDIATE next step in this emergency response?
- Begin chest compressions immediately.
- Go find the first aid kit.
- Roll the person onto their side.
- Call for emergency medical services. (Correct answer)
Correct answer: Call for emergency medical services.
In a critical medical emergency where a person is unresponsive and not breathing, the first and most crucial action is to call for professional medical help (e.g., dial 911). This ensures that advanced care is on the way as quickly as possible, while you or others can then proceed with other first aid measures like CPR.

- A list of employee shift schedules for the past year.
- The company's annual financial report.
- Clear communication protocols and designated evacuation routes. (Correct answer)

Correct answer: Clear communication protocols and designated evacuation routes.
An effective Emergency Response Plan must include clear procedures for how to communicate during a crisis, as well as well-defined and clearly marked evacuation routes and assembly areas to ensure personnel can exit safely and efficiently.
Question 4: Upon hearing a fire alarm at a worksite, a new worker is unsure of the evacuation route. What should be their most appropriate course of action?
- Return to their locker to get their personal belongings.
- Look for a posted evacuation map or follow the direction of other evacuating workers.
- Call their supervisor on their mobile phone to ask for directions. (Correct answer)

Accounting for all personnel is a critical step after an evacuation. Each worker is responsible for reporting to their supervisor or designated warden at the muster point so an accurate headcount can be completed to identify any missing persons.
