Free AQT Flight Simulations Questions and Answers — Questions and Answers
Question 1: In a flight simulation, what is the primary purpose of performing a pre-flight check?
- To practice communication with ATC
- To familiarize yourself with the cockpit layout
- To ensure that all aircraft systems and instruments are functioning correctly (Correct answer)
- To calculate fuel requirements
Correct answer: To ensure that all aircraft systems and instruments are functioning correctly
In a flight simulation, performing a pre-flight check is essential to replicate real-world aviation procedures and ensure safety. This systematic inspection verifies that all aircraft systems, controls, and instruments are functioning correctly and are properly configured. Practicing this routine reinforces proper operational habits and helps identify any simulated malfunctions before 'takeoff,' enhancing the learning experience.
Question 2: What is the most important consideration when practicing emergency procedures in a flight simulation?
- The speed at which you complete the procedures
- Adhering to the aircraft’s emergency checklist (Correct answer)
- The accuracy of your navigation
- The weather conditions in the simulation
Correct answer: Adhering to the aircraft’s emergency checklist
The most important consideration when practicing emergency procedures, whether in a flight simulation or a real aircraft, is strict adherence to the aircraft's emergency checklist. Checklists provide a systematic, step-by-step guide to manage critical situations under pressure, ensuring no vital steps are missed. This practice builds muscle memory and reinforces safe, methodical decision-making.
Question 3: In a flight simulation, how can you best simulate a real-world scenario involving poor visibility?
- Use the autopilot to handle navigation
- Adjust the simulator settings to reduce visibility and practice using instruments (Correct answer)
- Fly at a lower altitude to avoid the visibility issue
- Increase the simulation speed to complete the flight quickly
Correct answer: Adjust the simulator settings to reduce visibility and practice using instruments
To effectively simulate a real-world scenario involving poor visibility, such as fog or clouds, the simulator settings should be adjusted to accurately reflect these conditions. This forces the pilot to rely solely on instrument flight rules (IFR) and instrument navigation, a critical skill for flying in adverse weather. Practicing this builds proficiency and confidence for real-world instrument flying.
Question 4: What should be your primary focus when performing a touch-and-go maneuver in a flight simulation?
- Achieving a perfect landing
- Practicing the takeoff and landing procedures (Correct answer)
- Completing the maneuver as quickly as possible
- Maintaining a constant altitude throughout the maneuver
Correct answer: Practicing the takeoff and landing procedures
The primary focus when performing a touch-and-go maneuver in a flight simulation is to efficiently practice and refine both the takeoff and landing phases of flight. This maneuver involves landing an aircraft and then immediately taking off again without coming to a full stop. Repetitive practice helps pilots develop precision, coordination, and smooth transitions between these critical flight segments.
Question 5: How can you effectively use a flight simulator to prepare for a cross-country flight?
- By focusing solely on navigation without considering weather conditions
- By simulating the entire flight, including pre-flight planning, navigation, and in-flight procedures (Correct answer)
- By flying only in good weather conditions
- By practicing emergency procedures unrelated to the cross-country flight
Correct answer: By simulating the entire flight, including pre-flight planning, navigation, and in-flight procedures
To effectively use a flight simulator for cross-country flight preparation, it's essential to simulate the entire process comprehensively. This includes detailed pre-flight planning (route, weather, fuel), executing the navigation during the flight, and practicing all in-flight procedures, including communication and potential emergencies. This holistic approach builds complete proficiency for real-world long-distance flights.
